Custom Lane is the new collaborative centre for design and making in Leith, Edinburgh. The building is a multi-functional space, encompassing studio & workspaces, exhibition and events space, a cafe and a community workshop run by Edinburgh Tool Library.
Acting as a design hub, the building provides an opportunity to create, develop and showcase work created in Scotland as well as providing a space to expand collaboration between makers and exhibit international design.
Twelve Scottish designers are currently exhibiting at Custom:Made a carefully curated exhibition supported by GRAS & Craft Scotland is open until 23rd December. Exhibitors include previous SR:D exhibitors Morag Macpherson and Kirsteen Stewart alongside Diggory Brown, Naomi McIntosh and The Store Hus. The ground floor is also home to Williams & Johnson pop up café and Edinburgh Tool Library plus there’s an event space for industry talks and networking.
So what’s next? Curated by Edinburgh International Fashion Festival, Custom Lane is to host luxury shopping event, The Christmas Fair, with food, drinks and music in collaboration with Leith & Stockbridge Market. Day tickets are free with a £5 charge on the door for Saturday evening which includes music by Emelle.
