FUTURES: A blog from Glasgow Clyde College

Creating eclectic and free-spirited luxury womenswear, Mairi McDonald was awarded our New Talent Award in November 2013 before launching in London at Scoop International, January 2014 and was selected by Fashion Scout to showcase consecutively at London Fashion Week and Paris Fashion Week in 2014 and 2015.

A graduate of the renowned London College of Fashion, Mairi began her career with Julien MacDonald working on catwalk showpieces and celebrity commissions and gained further experience with Givenchy.

Alongside tutor Marion Whitelaw, Mairi has since shared her expertise and passion for the industry to a group of HND Fashion Design & Manufacture and Fashion Feature Writing & Styling students at Glasgow Clyde College in the making of ‘FUTURES’, a compiled blog of fashion entries from the students inspired by themes surrounding ‘College’ and ‘Youth Rebellion’.

Mairi’s youthful and edgy attitudes are echoed throughout this blog, which brings honest dialogue from Scotland’s new generation of talent. Articles include some of Scotland’s most promising designers, including Barbra Kolasinski and Rebecca Torres.

Encompassing creative visions from an array of students, this blog is full of interesting angles including swimwear, faux fur and buckfast.
