Paisley Thread Mill are offering an embroidery workshop, suitable for anyone over 8 years old. No embroidery experience is required.
Embroidery stitches have been around for many years and used in art work such as the Bayeux tapestry and the Great Tapestry of Scotland and each embroidery is made up of different stitches.
During this workshop, you will learn how to work some basic embroidery stitches, such as stem stitch and chain stitch. You will use stranded cotton, just like the threads that were once made in Paisley.

Recently awarded ‘Best New Scottish Designer 2016’ Siobhan’s signature style reinvigorates the kilt into a modern era using innovation within design & manufacture.
Siobhan graduated in 2014 with a 1st Class BA Honours Degree in Fashion Design & Production and was trained by Scotland’s Master Kilt-Maker whilst still a student. Her graduate collection of contemporary kilts were inspired by her Highland roots and Clan Mackenzie heritage which led to starting her own company five days after graduating.
Championing a Made in Scotland ethos Siobhan sells her innovative brand internationally- showing the rest of the world the craftsmanship and skill we have right here in Scotland.

At 2pm, Misty Concepts are offering a Origami taster session for beginners. Based in Paisley, Misty Concepts create unique and quirky origami products. Specialising in handmade origami paper light fixtures, the range extends from hanging pendants to string lights, all designed and created by designer, Mel Watt. Mel has always had a passion for art and design and was fascinated by the beauty of creating something so unique out of simply paper. After a lot of experimenting, Misty Concepts was launched and she is offering you the chance to make your own creation.
As part of the PaisleyMake Festival of Creativity and Design, local designer Dyane Lanez will be hosting Paisley’s first ‘yarn storming’ events. To coincide with the launch of PaisleyMake, she will wrap the famous Paisley Abbey cloisters in a bright array of wool inspired by Paisley Pattern designs. People of all ages are being encouraged to come along on Saturday and help wrap a range of Paisley 2021 related items in wool.
