On the 1st of November 2014 Scotland Re:Designed is launching a luxury department store, within Ocean Terminal named ‘Limited Edition’
The store features 4000 sq feet (we didn’t realise just quite how big that is, but trust us, it’s big!) of prime retail space is at our disposal until the 31st of January 2015.
In perfect time to offer shoppers a unique Christmas Shopping experience we have 20 wonderful Scottish brands stocked, from knitwear to footwear, accessories to homewares and apparel. Our mini luxury department store will have something for everyone.
The designers and brands will also be offering in-store meet and greets, sharing their stories and answering our customers questions. There will be presentations and mini events taking place including a live photoshoot, mini-fashion shows, expert Christmas buying guides and styling tips.
Dedicated staff have been hired to offer our customers a friendly and knowledgeable shopping experience. Our lovely Store Manager, Bryony Strange, whose background is in fashion design and retail, has a killer combination of creativity and sales prowess!
Lets find out more about Bryony…
Tell us a bit more about your experience. What kind of projects and activities have you been involved in?
Alongside working in retail I am also a designer, illustrator and dressmaker and recently graduated from Edinburgh College of Art with a degree in Fashion Design. My most recent collection was inspired by the works of Gabriel Orozco and the visual aesthetics within constellation maps and Astrophotography.
What do you most like about your profession?
Every day holds a new challenge and allows me to work with like-minded individuals that share my interest with fashion and design.
What are your aspirations?
I am keen to continue my work within design and potentially start up my own label in a few years time.
Favourite Scottish fashion designer or brand?
Pringle of Scotland, they’ve perfected the balance between heritage and modernity and I love that they still support Scottish manufacture. Their SS15 collection was fab.
What do you do to relax?
Take my boyfriend’s dogs off for a walk up around the Pentlands or to Cramond. I’m a country girl at heart.
Who are your heroes?
Cliché I know but I’d have to say my mum. I wouldn’t have got into fashion if it wasn’t for her influence and encouragement. She owned a few small boutiques when I was a child and would take me to the wholesale fashion shows and as I grew older I’d assist in buying and merchandising the stores, it was such fun!
If you could have existed in any time, when and where would you like to have lived and why?
1920’s Paris, the flapper style. the jazz, and the Parisian chic lifestyle-what’s not to love!?
RuPaul’s Drag Race on Netflix.
Bryony will be joined by Genuine PR and SR:D’s very own Diarmid McKinnon. Moving to Edinburgh at the end of the summer, we were able to scoop him up as Assistant Manager for the store. He is reliable, capable, a social media whizz and Kardashian crazy! We think he’ll be a firm favourite for all our shoppers!
The store will be supported by Napier University students who will work in the store to learn more about retail, event management, merchandising and design.
At the moment we are counting down to our launch party next week and getting the space ‘ship- shape’. Here is our ‘before’ shot…we cant wait to show the ‘after’.
So are you being served? If not don’t worry, we’ll be open soon!
