Exciting news in global fashion this week was that Scottish designer Jonathan Saunders, who closed his eponymous label in December, after 12 years in business, has been appointed Creative Director at Diane Von Furstenberg and will take charge with immediate effect. The Glasgow School of Art Graduate designer, who is renowned for his work with print and colour in elegant, modern collections has previously worked at labels such as Chloé and Pucci, and DVF say he will endeavour to attract a younger demographic to the much loved and highly respected brand founded by Von Furstenberg in 1997, who now also co-chairs the Council of Fashion Designers of America.
In his and our early days we worked on sponsorship support for Jonathan’s growing business, including a print collaboration with Vogue and VisitScotland, celebrating style in each of Scotland’s six cities, as well as Whyte & Mackay at SouthBank & BoomBox among other projects.
Hand-picked for his passion for print and flare for that feminine aesthetic, Von Furstenberg said she was excited for the future;
“Jonathan’s extraordinary passion for colours and prints, his effortless designs, and his desire to make women feel beautiful make him the perfect creative force to lead DVF into the future,”
“I could not have found a cooler, more intelligent designer and I cannot wait to watch him shine as our chief creative officer.”
