Swiftly following SR:D’s runway show on Thursday 9th November, the prestigious awards ceremony began hosted by musician Helen Marnie. This intrinsic part of SRD’s event programme recognises a high standard of talent. In the past, these designers have gone on to exhibit at trade shows such as Clerkenwell Design Week, 100% Design, Jacket Required & London Fashion Week. Considered one of the most influential accolades in the Scottish design world, the awards provide the deserving winners with the recognition they deserve. SR:D’s main funders, Creative Scotland, supported four awards this year, without which the landscape of support to designers simply would not exist. SR:D were delighted to welcome back APM Agency as an award sponsor, who last year supported SR:D’s first ever Lingerie Award.
Picking up the esteemed awards were:
The Scotland Re:Designed Menswear Award, funded by Creative Scotland was awarded to knitwear designer Jennifer Kent. “Scotland Re:Designed 2017 was such a creative and positive event to participate in and it was an honour to receive the Menswear Award this year. I am so grateful for all the support SR:D provides and look forward to using the prize to help grow and develop my brand in 2018!” The award was presented by Martyn Roberts, MD of Graduate Fashion Week & Fashion Scout.
The Scotland Re:Designed Womenswear Award, funded by Creative Scotland was presented to fashion design design-duo La Fetiche by Pam Hogg. “Orely and I are absolutely thrilled at having received the award from SR:D. Our first La Fetiche collection has been an enormous pleasure to put together collaborating with the incredible manufacturing skills in both Scotland and France. With this success we can go on to research more like minded collaborators and those interested in producing beautifully produced and desirable clothing and to bring it to the attention of a wider international audience”.
The Scotland Re:Designed Accessories Award, funded by Creative Scotland was given to 3-D printed jeweller Lynne MacLachlan by Hilary Alexander OBE. “I was delighted to win the SR:D Accessories award, an honour to be recognised amongst so many great Scottish designers. The award has come just at the right time for me as a independent designer and will help me grow my business here in Scotland”.
Scotland Re:Designed Interiors Award, funded by Creative Scotland was presented to cabinet maker, David Watson by designer Holly Fulton. “I am honoured to have won the Scotland Re:Designed award for interiors. It was very exciting to show alongside such a great selection of designers and has opened up my work to a new and very desirable audience. I am very much looking forward to the continuation of the mentoring we received and all that it could lead to.”
Scotland Re:Designed Lingerie & Loungewear Award, sponsored by APM Agency was awarded to Gilda & Pearl by Michael O’Brien of Model Team. “I’m delighted to win this award from Scotland Re:Designed and APM Agency.
