Scotland’s national netball team, the Scottish Thistles, last week revealed their new look kit at one of the country’s most iconic historical attractions, the National Wallace Monument.
The stunning location was the perfect backdrop to the athletes as they showed off their striking new match day dresses which have been designed by SR:D Exhibitor and independent fashion label, Rebecca Torres.
Rebecca is the Scottish founder and designer behind the self-titled label. Specialising in the use of luxurious sports led fabrics Rebecca is renowned for her ability to accentuate and empower the female form creating garments featuring enhanced fit, stretch and comfort.
With compliments from the likes of Vogue and a sell-out collection on ASOS.com, Rebecca was asked by new Netball Scotland CEO, Claire Nelson, to design the new Thistles kit and jumped at the chance to create a stylish, modern dress that highlighted the beauty and strength of the Scottish thistle, the flower after which the national team is named.
“It was a great honour to be asked by Claire to design the dresses for Scotland’s national netball team and I was keen to create something that the athletes would love and would feel great going out on court in.’
And Rebecca has achieved just that. The bright, bold design brings the team’s emblem, the Scottish thistle, to life in a vibrant and modern way, whilst delivering colour with real contemporary style and attitude.
Rebecca will be exhibiting her striking collections at this months’ PaisleyMake festival from Wednesday 31st August – Saturday 3rd September within the historic Paisley Abbey. The exhibition is free to browse and drop in at your convenience. For tickets to additional talks and Q&A sessions please visit the PaisleyMake Eventbrite page.
