Sma’ Shot Day & Weave Festival
The vibrant town of Paisley come to life last weekend, as part of the annual Sma’ Shot Day & Weave Festival. The annual event celebrates the historic weavers victory in an industrial dispute over payment for thread. This years festivities came together as a three day festival and cultural programme aptly named ‘Weave’.
Of course we jumped at the chance to get involved in such a diverse event. PaisleyMake Makers’ Market was our contribution. We curated a market of truly astounding makers, some of whom we had worked with before, and some new faces too.
The market was held in the stunning Paisley Abbey, which brought PaisleyMake back to it’s birthplace. The abbey also perfectly complimented the contents of the market. It was really inspiring to see how much of the creative work on display had taken inspiration from the town. The Paisley Pattern emblem was a theme throughout, with some makers having produced products especially for the event.
Because of the huge array of events on throughout the weekend, Paisley was packed all weekend. As a result we had the fantastic opportunity to get people talking about Paisley’s rich textile heritage. Conversations like these are a huge part of PaisleyMake‘s ethos and are an intergral part of the Paisley’s bid for UK City of Culture 2021.
