How perfect a coincidence that representatives of the SR:D clique happened to be in London, Milan and Paris for their respective Fashion Weeks. Check out our picture gallery and hear all about our trip below!
Before we begin – can we officially declare our love for Air Bnb? We stayed at the most amazing converted eco coach house full of quirks and beautiful artwork – check it out for yourselves!
First on the agenda was the Holly Fulton show at Somerset House. We’ve been huge fans of Holly since her career kicked off in 2009 and its incredible to see how far she’s come. So after a quick coffee from her Lavazza designed coffee van we headed in to find our seats in a packed out room. Her collection was ‘an ode to sun-worship, folk art and free expression’ and was effortlessly chic, wearable and undeniably Holly! We really just wanted to grab the samples off the models!
After Holly’s show we headed to the East Wing at Somerset House to see SR:D Exhibitor William Chambers new S/S Collection. This collection is by far his most accomplished and we’re already eyeing up a few for next summer. If anyone has any weddings, events or indulgent weekend brunches planned feel free to invite us! William and his husband Niall were as lovely and accommodating as always and we even nabbed them for a wee photo!
A brisk walk around the corner and we found ourselves at Freemasons Hall for the Fashion Scout Showcase: where previous winner of SR:D’s New Talent Award Mairi McDonald was exhibiting her new collection. The collection named ‘Queens of Noise’ references 1970s girl rock band the Runaways and has a relaxed rock n’ roll vibe that is perfectly accentuated with the femininity of using fabrics like lace and silk.
The following weekend we made a pitstop in Milan to see the fashion sights. Sadly no Scottish designers were exhibiting but instead we took in the Italian culture and made good use of the Apertivo hour! We sampled delicious Campari Spritz and visited fashion hubs such as the Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II, the Antionia department store and rounded it off with a cocktail at the amazing Trussardi Cafe. We also walked past Kendall Jenner and had a little overexcited meltdown – shh don’t tell anyone.
We ended our trip in the beautiful Paris discovering what may be our new favourite designers CatsBrothers who were also exhibiting at Fashion Scout and turns out are from bonnie Scotland! Their patterns and prints are bold and exciting and the teeth shirt dress has SR:D’s name ALL over it!
After such an exciting trip we’re all feeling invigorated and inspired for the coming months and can’t wait for everyone to see what we’ve got in store for SR:D November so keep your eyes peeled and make sure you’re signed up to our newsletter to get all the latest!
