In 2006, our director, Chris Hunt launched The Glasgow Design Collective, working on business development, fundraising and showcase opportunities for designers at widespread events including London Fashion Week, the Tea Building in Shoreditch and various other ventures with artists and designers such as Timorous Beasties, Jonathan Saunders, Karen Hodge, Jim Lambie, Gazmac, Brazen and Christopher Kane.


Coverage includes Men’s UNO, Vogue US, Harper’s Bazaar US, Elle HK and, Drapers, Grazia and The Guardian.


In 2012, SR:D launched as a national project advising, showcasing and mentoring in the sector, winning the Creative & Cultural Skills Design Skills Award, presented by Design Council Chief Executive, John Mathers.


Our annual showroom calendar champions Scotland’s dazzling fashion, textiles and interior design sector, in a series of showcases, one to one skills mentoring and learning workshops; attended by top buyers and media from around the world.


Our annual showcases at home in Scotland average in excess of 1000 visitors per event.


SR:D also mentors industry via Cultural Enterprise Office (CEO) & HotHouse for Crafts Council UK and designed and launched CEO’s Fashion Foundry, Scotland’s first incubator and physical studio hub for fashion, and set up the national Fashion Co-ordination Group.


The team at SR:D has extensive experience and regularly provides one-to-one industry advice, works on projects with a mix of academia, public and private sector, designing new projects, producing statistics, surveys, evaluations and reports.


SR:D receives no statutory or regular funding and currently relies entirely on competitive commissions, sales, project support & sponsorship opportunities.
