Last year, SR:D opened applications for SR:D x Hawick, an exciting new manufacturing venture designed to promote Hawick Knitwear to the design industry as an efficient, global manufacturer keen to engage with UK brands and its long-term investment into the industry to trade.
Winners will be able to travel and exhibit internationally, see first-hand the process of creating quality cashmere in a Scottish factory and create sample pieces fit for showcase using Hawick Knitwear’s finest cashmeres in Scotland Re:Designed’s first ever exclusive nation-wide competition.
Eric Chu, owner at Artwell factory in China and sister-company to Hawick Knitwear, flew in for SR:D’s Glasgow showcase to meet with brands and get a taste for the Scottish fashion scene.
The competition was judged by a number of well-respected names in the industry including; David Mullane, owner at W2 Store; Sarah Murray owner and buyer at the Edinburgh-based designer boutique; Jane Davidson and advisor to Atterley.com; David Watts, fashion business advisor; textiles specialist Fiona Chautard; director at Scotland Re:Designed and Genuine PR, Chris Hunt and Creative Director & Founder of Adeela Salehjee, Adeela Salehjee.
