Fashion Foundry, a Cultural Enterprise Office project funded by Creative Scotland, helps build a community for Scottish fashion designers and associated creative businesses, through a programme of events, workshops, advice and bespoke mentoring. In May of this year, they revealed the designers which they will be nurturing. The new Emerging Designers are:
The designers will now embark on a ten month programme of support including studio space, mentoring, designer talks and workshops from industry experts.
Kicking off their workshop programme was ‘Take the Tour With Trakke‘, attended by the Fashion Foundry designers, and members of the fashion community.
Trakke is an outdoor lifestyle bag pack company founded by Alec Farmer and are actually our neighbours – also based at SWG3, Glasgow. Their durable, understated designs are a work of art and true craftsmanship. Alec acted as a tour guide and gave the chance to explore the brand’s creative process and manufacturing techniques. One stand out piece for us was the world’s first digitally printed waxed cotton collaboration by Trakke and Timorous Beasties, how cool!
It’s not often you come across such a genuine brand who live the life they are trying to sell, freeing up their weekends to adventure and explore. Their workshop, which they call ‘base camp’ truly feels like their home.
