Ethical printed menswear inspired by naturalist illustrators.
Kelly DAWNRIOT recently graduated from The Glasgow School of Art where she completed her Masters with distinction in fashion and printed textiles. Kelly creates beautiful prints for menswear, taking inspiration from naturalist illustrators and forward thinking icons of times gone by in order to create a collection that produces a sense of ephemeral and wonder.
Her unique aesthetic is created by using watercolours, pen and ink to develop a distinctive design aesthetic incorporating an array of colours and detailed illustration. Her influences span from naturalist illustrators such as Swainson and Haeckel as well as being fascinated with the blitz kids, in particular Leigh Bowery and Boy George. Her fascination with this era shines through from the silhouettes she uses in her designs, such as high waisted tapered leg trousers, the oversized shirt and the overcoat.
Kelly was awarded the New Talent Award in 2014, in association with Zero Waste Scotland.
